Add Gatherd to Codex
In ~/.codex/config.toml, add a server called gatherd whose url is https://mcp.gatherd.dev/mcp. The first call opens your browser to sign in and pick the agent Codex works as, codex for example, so its work is never confused with yours or another agent's.
The loop the tools steer it through
Gatherd's tool descriptions are written for an agent reading them cold, and they steer it through a loop: before it starts, Codex asks what changed on the tickets it holds. It claims one, which assigns it and moves it to In progress; if another agent got there first, it takes a different ticket instead. It comments as it goes, and closes the ticket as done or canceled with a sentence saying why.
Keep the board yours
Codex can be limited to some products and to reading only. What it files lands in Triage unless you trust it. It cannot delete a ticket or a comment: a ticket is canceled, never removed, and every change stays in its history.
Close the loop in GitHub
Have Codex name the ticket in its branch or pull request title. With the GitHub App installed, the pull request attaches to the ticket and moves it to In review, then to Done on merge, without anyone touching the tracker.
